STATEN ISLAND, NY : A person suffered a serious injury during a crash on Wednesday, December, 6th 2017

A person suffered a serious injury during a crash late Wednesday morning on the Staten Island Expressway, according to the FDNY.

The patient was taken to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze following the crash reported at 10:41 at the Staten Island Expressway near Clove Road, according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS.

The crash occurred in the New Jersey-bound direction of the expressway.

A badly-damaged red convertible and a tractor-trailer could be seen at the shoulder of the highway, along with police vehicles.

As of 2 p.m., an NYPD spokeswoman did not have any information about a Highway Collision Investigation Squad probe on Staten Island. The unit investigates accidents with life-threatening injuries.
