A construction worker was killed just after midnight Monday in a hit-and-run accident on the President George Bush Turnpike. A suspect in the case was arrested Monday afternoon. Police said the driver of a black Chevy Impala failed to pay attention to a truck displaying a flashing arrow diverting traffic around a construction crew near Lower Tarrant Road. The Impala slammed into a trailer carrying construction worker Camerino Sixtos, who was putting down reflective pavement markers. Sixtos was hit and killed instantly. A Department of Public Safety spokesman said the Impala then cut across three lanes of traffic and hit another road maintenance truck before two suspects hopped out of the damaged car and took off in another, uninvolved vehicle. Texas Highway Patrol troopers arrested Francisco Castillo, 24, at his residence in Grand Prairie Monday and took him to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Castillo was then booked into the Dallas County Jail on two felony counts of failure to stop and render aid. No bond was set and the investigation is continuing. One worker in the maintenance truck was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
