West Quincy, MO : 2-year-old girl suffered minor injuries in a chain-reaction crash on the Quincy Bayview Bridge on Tuesday afternoon, June 28, 2016
A 2-year-old girl suffered minor injuries Tuesday afternoon during a chain-reaction crash on the Quincy Bayview Bridge.
The crash happened at 4:40 p.m. on U.S. 24, 500 feet west of the Illinois state line.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened in eastbound traffic on the bridge, which is carrying two-way traffic over the Mississippi River while work is being done this summer on the Quincy Memorial Bridge.
The patrol said a 2003 Dodge Dakota driven by Tyler J. Krietemeyer, 22, of Maywood, struck the rear of a 2003 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Seth A. Burton, 35, of LaGrange. That crash caused Burton's vehicle to crash into a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Tracy M. Stuckman, 28, of Quincy, Ill. Stuckman's vehicle then struck a 2007 Pontiac Torrent driven by Hunter J. Collier, 16, of LaGrange.
Police said that after Burton's vehicle hit Stuckman's, Burton's car slid on its passenger side, and the roof of Burton's vehicle struck the driver's side of Collier's vehicle.
A 2-year-old girl in Burton's vehicle was taken by private vehicle to Blessing Hospital in Quincy. No one else was injured. A report said all involved in the crash were wearing seat belts.
Burton's vehicle sustained moderate damage, while the other three vehicles had minor damage. The crash caused traffic to be back up on both sides of the bridge for a short time while the crash scene was cleared.
The Quincy Police Department assisted.
