A pedestrian was hit and killed Thursday morning in a crash that delayed school buses on the first day of classes in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at about 5 a.m. on Pleasant Hill Road between Poinciana Boulevard and Cypress Parkway.
Troopers say Edward Gonzalez, 56, of Kissimmee, was crossing the street when he stepped in front of a vehicle and was hit.
A second vehicle then ran over Gonzalez, troopers say.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident backed up traffic and delayed school buses in the area.
Deerwood Elementary, Liberty High, Poinciana High, and Chestnut elementary schools were among those affected, the district said.
The accident remains under investigation.
