HESPERIA, CA : Authorities identify one of two Hesperia men killed in early morning collision on Friday, 7th October 2016
Two Hesperia men were killed in a head-on collision that closed Ranchero Road early Friday morning, authorities said.
California Highway Patrol officer Rob Chester said Jose Antonio Corral, 24, has been identified as the driver of a Honda Civic that crossed into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons. Chester said that a 37-year-old man driving a Mitsubishi was also pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending family notification.
Officers responded to the crash that was reported at 2:50 a.m. on Ranchero Road, just east of Outpost Road. Chester said the eastbound Honda crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the Mitsubishi.
Both drivers were the only occupants of their vehicles. Chester said it’s unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.
Officials with Oak Hills High School, which is located on Cataba Road, said staff and parents did not experience any traffic issues around the school Friday morning.
The collision remained under investigation.
