Grand Haven, MI : A Spring Lake woman walked away after a crash on Thursday, 5th April 2018
A Spring Lake woman walked away after a crash Thursday morning involving a semi-truck.
Irene Bowman, 88, was checked by North Ottawa Community Hospital paramedics at the scene, and then walked away with a police officer to get a ride home.
The crash occurred shortly before 8 a.m. at the intersection of northbound Beacon Boulevard and Fulton Avenue in Grand Haven.
Bowman was driving south on Beacon and then turned east onto Fulton, crossing northbound Beacon into the path of a semi-truck, said Sgt. Eric Raasch of the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety. Her Honda CRV then drifted into the passenger side of a Chevrolet Suburban.
Bowman’s vehicle was struck on the passenger side.
“She sped across right in front of me,” the semi driver said. “I thought maybe I ran a red light.”
There is no traffic light for that part of the intersection.
Police said Bowman was the only occupant of her vehicle.
