Portland ,OR:Driver seriously injured after crashing into tree on Sunday morning ,September 6th 2015

A driver is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries Sunday morning after crashing into a tree along Powell Boulevard, Portland Police said.

Officers said the driver was thrown from the vehicle when he or she crashed into a tree near the Southeast 78th Avenue intersection.

Medical staff took the driver to a Portland-area hospital; they are being treated for “life-threatening injuries.”

Southeast Powell was expected to be closed in each direction for a few hours as crash investigators worked to find out what caused the crash.
