A pedestrian is recovering after being hit by a vehicle in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
It happened around 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 436 and Aloma Avenue.
Jeffrey Smith, 31, was walking on the sidewalk along State Road 436. For unknown reasons, a Dodge, driven by 34-year-old Luke Hiatt, veered off the roadway and onto the sidewalk.
The front of the Dodge hit Smith before traveling back onto the roadway. Troopers said the vehicle then traveled across the northbound lanes, hitting a sign and a fire hydrant before it overturned.
Smith was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
Hiatt suffered serious injuries and was taken to Winter Park Hospital.
FHP said charges are pending against Hiatt.
