Sixteen cattle died in a snow fog crash on Monday, Feb. 11, about noon on U.S. Highway 2 about 3 miles west of Devils Lake.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Garrett Hoopman of Dunseith was traveling east towing a livestock trailer when a semi passed him, leaving him in a cloud of snow fog.Hoopman was unable to see the roadway and ran off the four-lane highway into the snow-filled median where he hit an embankment and the livestock trailer he was pulling with his 2013 Kenworth overturned, the patrol said.
