Compton, CA : Palmdale man dies after crashing into wall in Compton on Sunday, July 13, 2014
Authorities today identified a Palmdale man who was killed when his car crashed into a wall in Compton.
The crash at Alameda and Manville streets was reported at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, said California Highway Patrol Sgt. J. P. Beay.
Gerald Davis, 51, died at the scene, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
The 2014 Chrysler 200 sedan was traveling south on Alameda Street south of Manville Street when it left the roadway, went up on the raised asphalt median and struck a concrete wall, Beay said. No one else was in the car.
Los Angeles County firefighters extricated the man’s body from the wreckage, said fire Dispatch Supervisor Ed Pickett. The cause of the crash was under investigation.
