Moss Bluff, FL : One dead in crash in Moss Bluff on Saturday evening, May 7, 2016

A single-vehicle crash in Moss Bluff claimed the life of the vehicle's only occupant on Saturday evening.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers, who investigated the crash, said the car was traveling in the inside lane southbound on Southeast 180th Avenue Road and was rounding a curve.

The vehicle ran off the roadway and the right side struck a chain link fence and a large tree.

The driver, Melissa D. Zimmermann, 40, of Moss Bluff, was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, FHP said.

Marion County Fire Rescue officials said they received the call at 6:11 p.m. and arrived in the 9100 block of SE 180th Avenue Road at 6:24 p.m. The woman was pronounced deceased by MCFR officials at 6:31 p.m.

Troopers said it's unknown if speed was a factor, and they said a motorist passing by saw the car and reported the crash.

Officials have not released the woman's name.
