Knoxville, TN : 41-year-old man was killed in fatal motorcycle crash on Weisgarber Road near Lonas Drive on Thursday, June 9, 2016

A 41-year-old Knoxville man was killed Thursday when his motorcycle collided with a car in West Knoxville.

The crash was reported about 5:25 p.m. on Weisgarber Road near Lonas Drive, according to a news release Friday from the Knoxville Police Department.

A preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a Ford Edge pulled from a business at 1016 E. Weisgarber Road and attempted to turn left onto Weisgarber, according to police.

The car stopped for an unknown reason in the middle of the westbound lanes of Weisgarber where it was struck in the driver's side door by a Suzuki GXR-750 motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, identified Friday as Jermaine Ray, was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he died of his injuries, according to police. Ray was wearing a helmet.

The Ford's driver was identified as Tiffany Stooksbury, 39, of Knoxville.

Charges are pending the conclusion of an investigation, according to police.
