Chatfield,MN : Stewartville woman killed Tuesday in collision west of Chatfield on October, Monday 9th 2017

A Stewartville woman died Tuesday after a crash near Chatfield.

Fillmore County Sheriff Chief Deputy Kevin Beck said the crash occurred at about 6:27 p.m. at the intersection of Fillmore County Road 2 and County Road 38, about 7 miles west of Chatfield.

A 37-year-old Stewartville woman was traveling north on CR 38 with a 13-year-old female passenger when the 2008 Chevrolet Suburban she was driving was stuck by a 2009 Nissan Murano that had been traveling east on CR 2. The Nissan was driven by a 68-year-old Stewartville man. A 68-year-old female passenger from Stewartville was also in the vehicle, Beck said.

Both occupants of the Chevrolet were transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys by ambulance. The driver of the Nissan was also transported to Saint Marys by ambulance, but the female passenger was transported by medical helicopter, he said.

The passenger of the Nissan was pronounced dead at Saint Marys. The conditions of the other crash victims were not known by the Fillmore County Sheriff's office at this time, and the sheriff's office is not releasing the names of any of the victims pending notification of their families, Beck said.

The Chatfield Fire Department, Chatfield Ambulance, Chatfield Police Department, Spring Valley Ambulance, Gold Cross Ambulance and the Minnesota State Patrol also responded to the scene.
