A motorcyclist is dead after a hit-and-run crash Volusia County, Florida Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said the motorcycle collided with a pickup truck at 5:10 p.m. Sunday on 13th Street and San Jose Boulevard.
The man driving a the truck was traveling north on Holly Hill when he ran a stop sign and slammed into the biker who was heading east on San Jose Boulevard, troopers said.
Both witnesses and FHP said the driver of the truck called someone and fled in a White Nissan Altima moments after the collision.
"We were looking around. I asked out loud 'Where did the driver go?' We were looking on the other side and one of the other neighbors was like 'yeah, he just got in that car. They just left. They just took off," Dave Kiel, one witness said.
The biker was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.
Troopers describe the driver of the truck as a black mane wearing a red hat, white tank top and jean shorts.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Florida Highway Patrol.
