Las Vagas, NV : Two dead in Three vehicle crash in Henderson Thursday on June 12, 2014
Two people died today when their van was hit by a semitrailer in a three-vehicle accident at an offramp of U.S. 95 at Auto Show Drive.
The accident is still under investigation, but Nevada Highway Patrol says the wreck was caused when the driver of the semi ran a red light. The driver and the male driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, also involved in the accident, were treated at a St. Rose Dominican hospital and released.
The double-trailer semi was traveling northbound on the freeway and exiting the off-ramp at Auto Show Drive when the accident occurred, NHP Trooper Loy Hixson said. Highway Patrol officers believe the semi ran the red light and hit the front of a Chevy Uplander van traveling eastbound on Auto Show. The Jeep, also traveling eastbound, hit the left side of one of the semi's trailers. Both the semi and the van continued onto the on-ramp and hit a concrete wall.
The two occupants of the van were pronounced dead on the scene, Hixson said.
The NHP has closed both northbound ramps, as well as westbound on Auto Show.
