One man died and two other people were injured Friday morning when a moving van crossed the median on Interstate 10 and hit a car and a tractor-trailer.
A 41-year-old California man was killed in the crash at about 11:45 a.m.Freeway travel between Cortaro Farms Road and Twin Peaks Road was restricted throughout the afternoon while officers investigated the crash and crews cleared the interstate.
The man who died was driving a moving truck westbound when he lost control, said Officer Carrick Cook,? a spokesman for the Arizona Department of Public Safety. He drove off the right shoulder of the interstate before overcorrecting. He swerved across westbound lanes and crashed through two sets of median cable barriers.
The moving truck then entered the eastbound traffic lanes and simultaneously collided with a passenger car and a tractor-trailer, Cook said.The driver of the moving truck was dead at the scene. His name was not released Friday evening.
The 64-year-old woman driving the car and the 51-year-old man driving the tractor-trailer were taken by ambulances to the University of Arizona Medical Center, Cook said.
The woman was treated for leg and neck injuries and released. The man was admitted to the hospital with head injuries.
