SENECA, SC : Woman charged in DUI crash on Sunday, 13th September, 2020

A woman was charged with driving under the influence Sunday night after troopers say she hit an Oconee County sheriff's deputy vehicle.

Cpl. Matthew Southern with South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on Sheep Farm Road.The sheriff's office said that Deputy Buddy Duncan, Jr., was driving a 2014 Chevy Tahoe eastbound and slowed down to make a U-turn, troopers said.

Two drivers behind the Tahoe slowed down as well.

A 2004 Dodge Intrepid came behind those vehicles, according to Southern, and crossed into the paved median and then into the far left westbound lane, striking the Chevy Tahoe.

Carrie Leighanne Underwood, 32, of Walhalla, was driving the Dodge Intrepid, troopers said.
