Scotland, PA : One Dead After Head-On Collision in Franklin County on Thursday evening, November 20, 2014
A Chambersburg, Pa., man was killed Thursday evening when the car he was driving was struck head-on by another vehicle in Greene Township, according to a news release from Pennsylvania State Police.
The accident occurred at about 5:10 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Pa. 997 and Scotland's Main Street.
Brett M. Taubel, 21, of Shippensburg, Pa., was driving a Chevrolet Malibu north on Pa. 997 when he swerved into the oncoming lane to avoid striking a dark-colored van, according to the release.
Marvin Curtis Brashear, 50, of Chambersburg, was driving a Dodge Neon south on 997 when Taubel's vehicle entered the southbound lane and collided with Brashear's car head-on, police said in the release.
Brashear was pronounced dead at the scene. Taubel was transported to Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, where a hospital spokeswoman said his condition was undetermined on Friday.
A passenger in the Malibu, 21-year-old Brandon J. Bass, of Shippensburg, Pa., was transported to Chambersburg Hospital, according to the release.
Bass was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
