New York, NY : Woman killed crossing Bronx roadway on Sunday, November 9, 2014
Authorities say a woman was killed early Sunday when she was hit by a car as she was crossing a New York City roadway.
Police responding to a call minutes into Sunday arrived at the Major Deegan Expressway near the West 179th Street entrance in the Bronx to find the woman lying in the road. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say a 24-year-old man was driving north on the road and hit her as she was going across the road on foot. Police say he initially left the scene but then reported the collision to Fire Department personnel nearby.
