One person was killed after a semi barreled into the driver’s side of a small car Wednesday afternoon in northeast Allen County.
The crash occurred at Indiana 37 and Indiana 101.
A red Chevy Cavalier was headed south on Indiana 101 when the driver either did not stop at the two-way stop sign or stopped and then continued across the highway, according to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
The driver was killed in the crash. The person’s identity was not released Wednesday evening.
Police said the semi-tractor-trailer was westbound on Indiana 37.
The semi pushed the car off the road into a nearby grassy area, with a portion of the car wedged under and against the front bumper of the semi.
Employee accused of lottery theft
A former Fort Wayne gas station employee has been accused of taking more than $36,000 worth of lottery tickets from her employer.
Coreenia S. Carroll, 38, of the 3700 block of Coleman Avenue, was charged Wednesday with eight counts of theft in connection with the case.
She is accused of taking lottery tickets from an unlocked storage area of the BP gas station, the location of which was not specified in the affidavit.
Police said the value of the tickets stolen was $36,972.
Carroll can be seen on video scratching the lottery tickets, which were redeemed elsewhere for the prize money, the report said.
