Fort Wayne, IN : Motorcycle doing wheelie dies in crash on Tuesday afternoon July 29th 2014

Fort Wayne police say a speeding motorcyclist doing a wheelie has died in a fiery crash with a pickup truck.

Police say the truck was turning left into the path of the motorcycle when the smaller vehicle struck the truck's fuel tank and ignited it. The motorcycle broke into several pieces upon impact and the truck was destroyed.

Medics declared the motorcyclist dead at the scene of the crash that occurred about 12:40 p.m. Tuesday. He was not wearing a helmet. His name was not immediately released.

Police say two men riding in the truck escaped injury.

A wheelie is a stunt in which the front wheel is lifted into the air and the motorcycle travels on just its rear wheel.
