Woodland Park.Co: One man dies in Fatal crash after short pursuit in Teller County on Saturday evening, 8th November 2014

A man died in Teller County on Saturday after he allegedly stole a car at gun point, led officers on a short pursuit and eventually lost control of the car. The Colorado State Patrol is investigating the fatal crash, according to a news release from the state patrol. Shortly after 4 p.m. in Manitou Springs, the man, who has not been identified, used a gun in a car jacking and hit a Manitou Springs Police vehicle and two other vehicles as he sped out of the town, according to the news release. State troopers spotted the stolen car, a 1997 Honda Accord, traveling westbound on Highway 24. Troopers began chasing the car with lights and sirens after the car turned onto southbound Highway 67. The chase continued for about four miles until the troopers determined the winding road made the pursuit too dangerous. But two miles down the road, Teller County Sheriff's deputies attempted to use stop sticks to stop the car. The Honda drove over the stop sticks and then veered off the right side of the roadway and down a steep embankment where it began to roll and eventually landed upside down, according to the news release. The man driving the car died on scene. No one else was in the vehicle. No other injuries were reported. Source :
