Jacksonville, TX : One vehicle crash on FM 747 in Cherokee County on Tuesday, August 15, 2017

Just after 10 p.m. Monday, DPS troopers responded to a one vehicle crash on FM 747 in Cherokee County, southwest of the city of Jacksonville.

The preliminary crash report indicates a 1996 Ford Ranger driven by 74-year-old Edward Wilbanks of Jacksonville, was traveling southwest on FM 747 when the vehicle went off the roadway in a curve. The driver overcorrected and ran back across the roadway and struck a pole, coming to rest in a ditch on the south side of the roadway.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by JP Phillip Grimes, and his body was taken to Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
