Troopers say one is dead and two others injured after a crash in Greenville County on Friday.
According to Real-Time Traffic Information on the SC Highway Patrol website, the crash happened at 749 Princeton Hwy and Mountain Creek Road in Honea Path around 4:48 p.m. Injuries were initially reported in the crash, with the roadway blocked at the scene along US 76 near the Anderson County line.
Our FOX Carolina crew at the scene said Dunklin Fire Department and troopers responded to the incident. Our crew reported seeing a pile of metal with a sheet over it, and a red vehicle overturned.
Troopers said a driver in a 2013 Nissan minivan was traveling west on US 76 as the driver of a 1999 GMC Yukon SUV was traveling east along the same road.
According to troopers, the Yukon traveled left of center, striking the Nissan head on.
The driver of the minivan became entrapped, requiring mechanical extraction from the vehicle. The driver succumbed to injuries at the scene, and the passenger in the Nissan was injured and transported by EMS to Greenville Health System.
The coroner later identified the driver as 68-year-old Susan Carlson Burton of Anderson. Her cause of death was blunt force trauma.
The driver of the Yukon was also injured and was transported by EMS to Greenville Health System.
