Two people were killed early Sunday morning in a head-on wreck on Farm Road 51 a few miles south of Decatur.
According to Department of Public Safety trooper William Wallace, a southbound pickup driven by Shawn Brown, 18, of Springtown crossed into the northbound lane and struck a northbound pickup driven by Justin Buchanan, 31, of Decatur. Buchanan’s vehicle burst into flames.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene, and autopsies have been ordered.
Officers did not find evidence of alcohol at the scene.

The accident happened around 2 a.m. near Four Wheels of Texas.

The road remained shut down for several hours while the crash scene was investigated.

Decatur and Paradise fire departments responded, along with Wise County EMS and the Wise County Sheriff’s Department.

Buchanan is a former teacher and coach at Paradise ISD and was currently employed as a dispatcher for Transmundo Management. His funeral is 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Grace Fellowship Church in Paradise.
Brown was a manager at Arby’s in Decatur who attended Springtown High School. His funeral is 10 a.m. Thursday, July 28, at Hope Lutheran Church in Springtown.
