Huntington County, IN : 2 Huntington women identified as victims of crash on Sunday, 16th September 2018

Two Huntington women have been identified as the victims of a head-on crash Sunday morning in Huntington County, the county coroner said today.

Kelli S. Koontz, 58, and Sandra K. Prichard, 71, died accidentally from multiple blunt-force traumatic injuries in the crash, Coroner Philip Zahm said in a statement.

Zahm said Koontz was driving east on Indiana 16, west of County Road 635 West, about 11:15 a.m. when for unknown reasons her car went off the south shoulder of the road, overcorrected and left the north side of the road, then returned to the road and slid into the path of a pickup truck headed west.

Both victims died at the scene, and toxicology results are pending for both, the coroner said. He said Koontz was not wearing a seat belt; Prichard, her front-seat passenger, was.

The driver of the pickup truck and two passengers, who were not identified, were taken to a hospital for their injuries, police have said.
