A Monroe County Sheriff’s deputy was injured when his fully marked patrol vehicle was struck by a semi on S. Telegraph Rd. near Dunbar Rd. Wednesday afternoon.

The deputy, a veteran of many years, was taken to Toledo Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Maj. Jeff Kemp.

The deputy was heading south on Telegraph when his sports utility vehicle was hit by the truck, which was attempting a left turn into the Hi Lite market. The truck driver was not injured but was expected to be cited.

The accident closed parts of the busy intersection, causing a backup. Lanes were reopened about an hour after the 2 p.m. crash.
