Aspinwall, PA : Man killed in crash on Route 217 in Derry Twp. on Wednesday, January 25, 2017
Speed is believed to have been a factor in a one-car crash that killed a 52-year-old Derry Township man along Route 217 late Wednesday, according to the Westmoreland County Coroner's office.
Scott J. Geary of Bergman Road was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that was reported at 11:17 p.m. on Route 217 near the village of Hillside.
Geary was the alone in the southbound 2000 Ford Mustang that lost control, crossed the center lane striking multiple guardrails, then traveled off the roadway and struck several trees. Geary was entrapped inside the car, the coroner's office reported.
Deputy Coroner Josh Zappone pronounced Geary dead at the scene. Zappone reported that Geary was not wearing a seatbelt.
Cause of death was multiple blunt-force injuries. Toxicology tests are pending.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
