Huntsville, TX : Woman killed in wreck on US Highway 190 on Thursday morning, January 5, 2017

A young woman was killed early Thursday morning after the car she was driving ran into the back of a trailer being hauled by a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 190.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Elizabeth Bryant, 25, of Walker County died on the scene after rear-ending a 24-foot Gooseneck trailer attached to a 2016 Ford F-350 in her 2008 Chevrolet Uplander near FM 405 while traveling east on Highway 190 around 8 a.m. Thursday.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, according to DPS Sgt. Steven McNeil.

McNeil thought that the driver of the pickup truck may have been trying to turn left onto FM 405 when Bryant hit the trailer they were pulling from behind.

“Chances are the truck was probably stopped for traffic that was turning there at 405, but I don’t know,” McNeil said.

The driver of the Ford truck received no injuries.

Two children were in the car with Bryant, ages 7 and 4. The 7-year-old was flown by a Life Flight helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston with lacerations. His injuries were not life-threatening, according to McNeil.

“(The child) didn’t suffer any serious injuries,” McNeil said. “I think they flew him more for observation than anything else.”
