Three injured in head-on crash in Illinois

Three people were taken to Memorial Medical center Friday following a head-on collision on Illinois 125 in Ashland, Illinois State Police said.

Sarah L. Mefford, 59, of Virginia was heading west on Illinois 125 just west of Fremont Street about 5:15 p.m. when she started to pass another vehicle. Her car collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by Cole A. Metcalf, 18, of Macomb.

Both drivers and a passenger in Metcalf’s car, Ginger N. Wilcoxen, 18, of Springfield, were taken by ambulance to Memorial. State police said the injuries were not life-threatening. All three were listed in stable condition Saturday.

Citations are pending, state police said.
