Long Grove ,IL :1 hurt in 4-car collision in Long Grove on Wednesday afternoon ,July 29th 2015
car that appeared to come to a stop in between intersections may have been the cause of a four-vehicle crash in Long Grove on Wednesday, according to a fire official.
Marc Small, deputy chief of the Long Grove Fire Protection District, said one person suffered minor injuries during the afternoon collision that involved three cars and a truck.
Small said that at about 2:30 p.m., a car moving south on Illinois Route 83 came to a complete stop at about the midpoint between Aptakisic and Robert Parker Coffin roads, apparently catching the drivers behind by surprise.
"The other vehicles didn't stop in time," Small said. "They just kept bumping each other."
Three of the four drivers declined medical treatment, but Small said the fourth requested an ambulance ride for an examination.
Long Grove's Sunset Grove shopping center is on the east side of Route 83, but the southbound lanes can access it only at Aptakisic and Robert Parker Coffin. There are no left or right turns on that two-mile stretch of two-lane road between those intersections. Both intersections have traffic signals.
Only one lane of traffic was blocked by the crash, so a road closure was not necessary, Small said.
