Gonzales, LA : LaPlace man dies of injuries sustained in four-vehicle crash in Ascension Parish on Tuesday, March 7, 2017

A LaPlace man seriously injured in a four-vehicle crash Tuesday on U.S. 61 near La. 30 has died, according to a Louisiana State Police spokesman.

Kevin Campbell, 33, succumbed to those injuries on Thursday, said Trooper First Class Bryan Lee.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Campbell was traveling northbound on US 61 in a 2015 Dodge Charger, Lee said. For unknown reasons, Campbell struck the rear of another northbound vehicle. This triggered a chain reaction crash involving two more vehicles and ended with Campbell’s vehicle striking a utility pole.

Campbell, who was unrestrained, was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries., Lee said.

Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash but toxicology samples were taken from all drivers for analysis, Lee said.
