A boy crashed a stolen car into several buildings before the vehicle split in half in downtown Orlando, according to police.

The Orlando Police Department said the driver was speeding before he lost control and crashed into two light poles and several businesses, including the Sunnys Beauty Supplies store, on Colonial Drive at Mills Avenue late Thursday night.

When officers arrived at the scene, they spotted the driver running away from the scene, police said. He was captured and taken into custody, investigators said.

Colonial Drive was temporarily closed between Mills and Shine avenues while emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage.

Police said the car, which had a gun inside of it, was reported stolen out of Orange County.

The juvenile driver, whose age was not specified, has eight warrants for his arrest, but charges from the crash are pending an investigation, police said.
