Fort Dodge,IA : Elderly man dies in Sac County collision on January, Wednesday 17th 2018
An elderly man is dead after he was involved in a collision with a semi truck early Wednesday afternoon just outside of Sac City.
The man was identified by the Sac County Sheriff’s Department as Dennis Gosch, 77, of Sac City.
According to Sac County Sheriff Ken McClure, Gosch was traveling north in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup on Rolf Avenue.
At the intersection of Rolf Avenue and U.S. Highway 20, Gosch pulled out onto the highway and was struck by an eastbound semi truck operated by Robert Brown, 61, of Kiron.
The collision was reported at 12:06 p.m.
Gosch was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brown was uninjured.
The scene of the accident is one mile west of Sac County Road M54, north of Sac City.
The collision remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and Sac County Sheriff’s Department.
They were assisted on scene by the Sac City Police Department, Sac City Fire and Rescue, Sac County Ambulance, Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement and Iowa Department of Transportation Maintenance.
