I-77 SB back open after tractor trailer crashes, spills pizza on road

All lanes of Interstate-77 are back open after an early morning crash left a tractor trailer blocking the interstate with frozen pizzas scattered across the road.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning when a big rig hit the guardrail around the Clanton Road exit on Interstate 77 southbound.
WBTV Cam Man Ron Lee reported the trailer was ripped open like a tin can and spilled thousands of frozen pizzas all over the highway.

Medics said a husband and wife team were inside the cab at the time of the accident, but weren't seriously hurt. Investigators don't yet know what caused the crash.HAZMAT crews were called out after the rig started leaking diesel fuel.Charlotte firefighters had to pump the gas out to reduce the risk of something even worse happening.
