MANSFIELD, LA : Child dies after being struck by vehicle in DeSoto Parish accident on Friday, 30th August 2024

A 2-year-old boy died after being struck by a vehicle on Sloan Road off Highway 175 on Friday afternoon, according to authorities.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:25 p.m. when a 911 dispatcher received a call reporting that a young child had been hit by a vehicle in the 1200 block of Sloan Road.

First responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The child was initially taken by family members to DeSoto Fire District No. 8 fire station then to DeSoto Regional Health System in Mansfield. Despite efforts to save him, the child was pronounced dead at the hospital.

While the incident is believed to be a tragic accident, authorities are withholding further details pending an investigation.
