ANTWERP, OH : Antwerp man killed in two-vehicle accident on Saturday, June 17, 2017

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Van Wert Post is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred Saturday evening two miles north of the Village of Antwerp in Paulding County.

Troopers were dispatched to the crash on State Route 49 south of County Road 230 in Carryall Township at 7:36 p.m. Saturday evening.

A 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Alexandria Bartley, age 18, of Van Wert was northbound on State Route 49. A 2012 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Scott J. Bunnell, age 28, of Antwerp was southbound on State Route 49.

Bunnell drove left of center and Bartley swerved to the left to avoid Bunnell. Bunnell attempted to swerve back into his lane and struck Bartley. Both vehicles came to rest in the roadway.

Bartley was transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center by Antwerp EMS.

Bunnell was transported by Hicksville EMS to Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville where he was pronounced dead.

Bartley was wearing her seat belt. Bunnell’s seat belt use is unknown at this time in the investigation.
The Van Wert Post was assisted on scene by Hicksville and Antwerp Fire/EMS, Paulding Sheriff’s Office, and Gideon’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation and alcohol use is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
