BRANDON, VT : Brandon man seriously injured in motorcycle crash on Saturday, 17th September 2016

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday evening.Brandon police said the crash happened at 6:46 p.m. at 590 Franklin St. near the American Legion building when a motorcycle struck the driver's side of a 2007 Dodge Caliber.

At the scene, investigators found the motorcyclist, Burton E. Wedge, 51, of Brandon, lying in the southbound lane with extensive injuries, including a broken arm and pelvic fracture.

The man's motorcycle, a 2008 Honda, was found with significant damages lying in a nearby ditch along the southbound lane of Franklin Street.

Wedge was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center by Brandon Area Rescue Squad personnel.

Investigators also responded to the hospital to collect an evidentiary blood alcohol test from Wedge.

The car’s driver, Patti J. Peusak, 69, of Anchorage, Alaska, and a passenger, Franca A. Carr, 83, of Burlington, were taken to Porter Medical Center for shock and minor injuries.

Both women said they were wearing seat belts.

The crash is still under investigation but alcohol may have been a contributing factor, authorities said.
