A Chickasha man died in a two-vehicle collision on Saturday.

A passenger, Ramo A. Bumpas, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene from massive internal injuries, according to a report from Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The driver, traveling southbound on Highway 81, allegedly swerved to miss a piece of metal in the roadway and lost control of the vehicle. The car then went into a broad slide into the northbound lane. A second vehicle traveling northbound struck the first vehicle in the passenger door, the OHP report said.

The driver was transported via Mediflight to OU Medical Center with arm, leg, head and trunk internal and external injuries. The Grady County Fire Department used the jaws of life to free the driver and passenger, who were pinned in the vehicle following the collision.

The driver in the second vehicle was transported by Chickasha EMS to Grady Memorial Hospital and then taken by Mediflight to OU Medical Center. She was admitted in critical condition with trunk internal and leg injuries, OHP said.

The accident took place on S. Highway 81, one mile north of Highway 62, just north of Chickasha city limits in Grady County, according to OHP.
