Fort Lauderdale, FL : Man, 81, dies three days after crash outside Wal-Mart on Monday, January, 15th 2018
An 81-year-old Pembroke Pines man died Monday, three days after crashing into an SUV as he exited from Wal-Mart, police said.
Gerald Rothberg failed to yield right of way before turning into the path of the SUV in the 100 block of Southwest 184th Avenue, south of Pines Boulevard, Friday afternoon, said Sgt. John Baker, of the Pembroke Pines Police Department.
Rothberg was driving a 2006 Buick Terraza west in the Wal-Mart exit as he approached Southwest 184th Avenue, Baker said.
Rothberg “failed to yield right of way from the stop sign and turned right into [the] path” of a 2016 Toyota 4Runner driven north on 184th by Antonio Egues, 48, of Miramar, Baker said.
Rothberg was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood where he died at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Baker said.
Egues declined medical assistance.
