A Ford Escape crashed into a restaurant near the Nutbush area, according to Memphis Police Department.

The crash happened at El 7 Mares Bar and Grill, at the corner of Orchi Road and Jackson Avenue, just before 9:30 a.m.

"I was sleeping good and that saved my life," Yessy Carcamo said. "Because I usually come in at 8:30."

Oversleeping may have turned out to be a blessing for Carcamo Saturday morning. If she had been on time for work, she would have been inside the restaurant when the SUV went through it.

"I sit in the front, like, seat. This time is when I eat my breakfast," she said.

Omar Gobah, shop owner next door, said he saw two people run from the SUV after it crashed.

"I was looking at my camera and I could see the car speeding down the street and hit the building straight up," Gobah said.

Carcamo said they have insurance and they are planning to reopen.

One person was transported to the hospital in non-critical condition.

The driver was issued a citation.
