Easton, PA : One vehicle ended up on its roof in a two-vehicle crash on Easton's College Hill on Friday, June 26, 2015

One vehicle ended up on its roof in a two-vehicle crash just before noon Friday on Easton's College Hill.

No one was seriously hurt in the crash at Knox Avenue and McCartney Street, police said at the scene. A woman who was in the flipped vehicle was taken by ambulance to an area hospital as a precaution, police said.

Police closed both roads temporarily as they investigated and cleared the debris. McCartney had reopened by about 12:15 p.m. Knox Avenue reopened into Forks Township but was closed for additional time while they righted the SUV between McCartney and Cattell streets.

A man who had been playing basketball at nearby Sullivan Park said he was walking on the sidewalk along Knox Avenue.

First he heard the crash behind him and then the grey Hyundai Sonata was "rolling down the street," the man, who twice refused to give his name, said, indicating with his arms the SUV was flipping.

"I turned around and saw this car coming," he said. "I thought it was coming at me."

When the SUV, which had a Pennsylvania license plate, came to a rest about 50 feet from the intersection near the sidewalk on the south side of the street, the driver "was screaming for help," he said.

The man, who lives in the neighborhood, said he called 911 then opened both doors as a nurse who appeared to live nearby checked on the woman.

"She had a seat belt on and was holding the steering wheel," he said of the driver. "She was upside down and her face was (looking) down."

The SUV left several scrapes along Knox Avenue.

The police investigation continues. Initially it appeared as if the Hyundai was moving east on Knox Avenue, which doesn't have a stop sign, and struck a light green Toyota Prius carrying a man and two boys, police said. The Prius, which had Massachusetts license plates, was hit on the passenger side front bumper.

The driver of the Prius and his passengers didn't appear injured.

Police said they will release more information later in the day.

The stop sign on McCartney Street is below Chestnut Terrace, which feeds in just south of Knox Avenue. The Prius, after the crash, sat just beyond the point where McCartney enters Knox Avenue.

Two neighbors pointed out the city hadn't repainted two white stop lines at the stop sign on McCartney and at the the edge of Knox Avenue after the road was repaved some time ago. A neighbor suggested there should be a stop light at the five-way intersection.
