Ocala, FL : Death involved in crash near Southwest 69th Court Road on Sunday, 22nd December, 2019

A car crash on West State Road 200 just west of Ocala claimed a life Sunday morning.

Traffic was snarled for several hours as emergency service personnel worked at the scene near Southwest 69th Court Road.

The intersection is near the Marion Landing community on SR 200.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Cpl. Kristine Schultz, one of the troopers at the scene, preliminary information indicated a Toyota Corolla driven by the victim pulled out from Southwest 69th Court Road on the east side of SR 200, and traveled west into the path of a Ford F-150 traveling north on SR 200.

Joann Sandlin, 52, of Ocala was pronounced deceased at West Marion Hospital following the crash, according to an FHP news release.

Schultz said Sandlin “violated the right of way” of the truck and was struck in the driver’s side while in the inside lane of SR 200.
