TERRACE HEIGHTS, WA : Two people were injured in a four-vehicle collision on Wednesday, July 5, 2017
Two people were injured Wednesday in a four-vehicle collision just before 1 p.m., the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The collision occurred when 59-year-old Tammy Henle, who was driving west on Terrace Heights Drive from Butterfield Road, dropped something on the floor between her feet while she was driving and reached down to pick it up.
While she was leaning down, she veered to the left side of the road into eastbound traffic, striking the driver’s side of a 2003 Oldsmobile that was heading east, driven by Luis Hernandez, 54.
She continued in the eastbound lane in her Mitsubishi Galant, hitting a 2017 Ford F-150 head-on, the sheriff’s office report says.
A fourth vehicle, a 2010 Ford Fusion, was behind the F-150. Driver Christina Marble, 25, tried to avoid the pickup but ended up rear-ending it.
The Oldsmobile, Galant and F-150 were totaled, while the Fusion sustained heavy damage to the right front of the vehicle.
The driver of the pickup, Antonio Gonzalez, 52, and his passenger Deborah Sauve, 56, were taken to a local hospital for treatment of chest and neck pain after the accident.
Everyone involved was wearing seat belts, and there were no intoxicants involved, the sheriff’s office report says.
Henle was cited for negligent driving, the sheriff’s office release said.
