Motorcylist killed south of Goldendale

A 69-year-old Kennewick man died Friday when his motorcycle struck a semi-tractor and trailer about 15 miles south of Goldendale.
The accident happened about 5:40 p.m. as Richard E. Newton was driving a black 2007 BMW R1200G north on U.S. Highway 97 approaching State Route 14, according to an accident memo released by the Washington State Patrol.Newton drove into the shoulder, passed a vehicle at a high rate of speed and was then unable to turn on a curve. He instead continued straight and hit the truck, which was westbound on SR 14, the State Patrol said.Newton died at the scene.The truck’s driver Jaswant Singh, 39, of Clovis, Calif. was not injured
