Mentone, AL : Child struck, killed by car on Alabama 117 in DeKalb County on Tuesday, March 21, 2017

A child was struck and killed while crossing the street in DeKalb County yesterday.

Trooper Curtis Summerville said the child, who has not been publicly identified other than being a girl, was hit by a 2008 Ford Focus on Alabama 117.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened at at 3:29 p.m., four miles east of Mentone.

The Ford's driver was not injured, Summerville said.

No additional information was available, and state troopers are investigating.
