Oklahoma City, OK : One person died after his car burst into flames on Thursday morning July 31st 2014

Oklahoma City police say one person died after his car burst into flames Thursday morning.

Witnesses said they saw a driver in a truck swerving around the road near West Memorial Road and North Portland Avenue around 2 a.m. According to authorities, the driver hit the side of the road several times before pulling into the Country Inn and Suites, where he ran over curbs and some decorative rocks in their parking lot, stripping his tires down to the rim.

Witnesses said the truck then burst into flames. Firefighters extinguished the blaze. Officers said they are not sure why the driver could not get out in time.

Police are still investigating and waiting on the medical examiner to arrive. Officials have not released the driver's name.

Authorities believe the driver may have been intoxicated.
