HANOVER, VA : 78-year-old Georgia man dies after 2-vehicle crash on I-95 on Wednesday, 22nd May 2019

A 78-year-old Georgia man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Hanover County on Tuesday.

Virginia State Police responded to mile marker 96 on I-95 North at 12:20 p.m. on May 21 after two cars involved in a crash went off the road.

An investigation revealed that a 1998 Chevrolet S10 was traveling north on I-95 in the center lane when the driver, identified as Robert E. Taylor, veered to the left and struck a Ford Mustang. The impact, according to police, sent both vehicles off the road towards the left.

Taylor, from Brunswick, Georgia, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The passenger in Taylor's car, identified as only a female, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. They were both wearing their seatbelts.

The driver and passenger of the Mustang, who were both wearing their seatbelts, were treated for minor injuries, police said.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
