Authorities have identified an off-duty Alameda County Sheriff’s deputy killed when a bus crashed into his car as a 10-year veteran of the department.
Alameda County Sheriff Gregory Ahern says Deputy Sroeuy Khin was killed Friday after working a 12-hour shift at San Rita Jail and a day before his 51st birthday. Khin leaves behind a wife and four children.
Ahern said Khin was “one of our hardest working employees.”
Khin was killed when a bus carrying Tesla employees crashed into his car east of San Francisco.
The California Highway Patrol says the collision occurred when the deputy’s Volkswagen was stopped on the highway and was rear-ended by the bus on the Altamont Pass in Tracy, about 75 miles (120 kilometers) east of San Francisco.
