Throckmorton,TX : Throckmorton man dies after pickup hits parked semi on January, Saturday 27th 2018

An 84-year-old Throckmorton man died Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash seven miles from the city.

Thomas Sherod Richards Jr. was pronounced dead at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. A passenger in his vehicle, Harma Flojuan Richards, 81, was transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock to treat her injuries.

The Department of Public Safety reported both were wearing seat belts.

A 1994 Kenworth semi-trailer was parked on the eastbound shoulder of U.S. Highway 380, with a portion of the truck in the driving lane. A 2011 Chevrolet pickup driven by Richards struck the back of the semi at 9:43 a.m.

The driver of the truck, Joseph Wood, 37, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, was not injured.

Road conditions were clear and dry.
